NUS School of Computing (Un-Built)
Area: 12,200 SQ M
The new SOC building is envisaged to be the wellspring of technological breakthroughs and will personify the spirit of deep thinking and intellectual rigor needed to navigate the frontiers of science and technology.
Itself the embodiment of the latest in technology with integrated SMART building innovations, the new SOC building will be “LIVE” and connected to a building maintenance system (BMS) that will continuously evolve through the future years until it is fully autonomous and able to anticipate needs instead of being the dormant receptacle most buildings are currently.
The new SOC will have hives of activity with pockets of quiet interspersed throughout where landscape takes advantage of the undulating terrain and is interwoven into the different levels.
It will provide staff and students alike, a variety of spaces in which to engage their research as well as opportunity for appreciation of the environment and place, rooting them into the physical present whilst their research breaks precedents in the virtual realm.
