Yokogawa Electric, Headquarters and R&D Centre
Year: 2007
Region: SINGAPORE
Yokogawa Electric, Headquarters and R&D centre consist of a 12-storey high office tower with five mezzanine-storey of carpark floors, 3-storey of R&D floors, 5-storey of office floors, and a double volume atrium block linking the new building to the existing factory.
To portrait the image of headquarter and the Japanese corporate ‘fashion’, the new building is designed in ‘languages’ which both reflect the symbolic genesis of the Headquarter in Tokyo and the existing building context. The tower prompts comparisons with its Headquarter in Japan yet also responds to very different cultural and urban factors in Singapore. It has a seemingly simple form with an extreme, poetic intensity.
